Introduction

VIA is built to help you explore the Åland archipelago. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal information you share with us.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, and optional profile picture (stored locally on your device).
• Saved content: routes and places you favourite, and routes you mark as completed.
• Motion data: if you opt in to step tracking, your device's motion sensor is used locally to estimate steps. This never leaves your device.
• Usage data: anonymous app interactions, only if you opt in via the cookie banner.

Cookies and local storage

We separate storage into two categories:

• Essential - always on, required for sign-in, favourites, saved routes, and language preference. Without these the app cannot function.
• Analytics - optional and off by default. Only enabled if you explicitly accept it in the cookie banner. Used solely to understand anonymous, aggregate usage.

You can accept, decline, or fine-tune these choices the first time you visit, and change your mind at any time from Profile → Manage cookie preferences.

How we use your data

Your data is used to power your personal experience: saved routes, favourites, and language preferences. We do not sell or share your information with third parties.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. You can also delete your account from the app at any time.
