How old is Kastelholm Castle?
The castle is first mentioned in 1388, making it Åland's only medieval castle. It was later expanded by Gustav Vasa and his sons before falling into ruin and being restored.
What does the ticket include?
A Kastelholm ticket covers both Kastelholm Castle and the nearby Vita Björn prison museum. The summer ticket covers six Åland museums.
When is it open?
Kastelholm is open 2 May – 30 September, daily 10:00–17:00. Extended hours to 20:45 on 7–9 August 2026.
How much does it cost?
Kastelholm ticket: 10 € adults, 6 € children 7–17 / seniors / students. Children under 7 free. The same ticket also covers the Vita Björn prison museum. Summer ticket (6 museums): 20 € / 15 €. Check the official website for the latest prices and any combined tickets.
